Learning objective

This game addresses language awareness as well as some cultural awareness

At the end of this game, player will be able to:

  • Identify the seasons in different countries
  • Use simple words to describe the weather and climate of different countries.
Description of Play

Using words from their bank/inventory, player has to form correct sentences/fill in blanks.

Player goes through an obstacle course/through some sort of space avoiding pitfalls. They collect words that pop out intermittently. These words are mostly words to do with climate, weather, environment, etc. As they encounter the obstacles/challenges, (e.g a bridge, a locked door, an animal, etc). they need to give the password which could be -a word to complete a sentence, or they respond to a prompt or request or question using full phrases or sentences from their inventory. Some of the questions they'll be asked will be true or false questions in english regarding the culture of the language they are in.

If they are right, they succeed in crossing that particular obstacle, if not, the game ends there for them and they lose. When they get a question right, as part of the response, they also get a "did you know" type remark/nugget about the culture of the language they are learning.

The game is in varying levels of difficulty-maybe 3-beginner, intermediate and advanced)
