Lights Out Mobile Phone Game - Brendan Fields
Lights Out Mobile Phone Game - Brendan Fields

Background Information

This is a mobile phone game based on the popular 90's handheld game from Tiger Toys. The idea of the game is to extinguish all the lights that are on. This is done by toggling their state. The state can be either on or off. The puzzle element of the game is introduced when a light is extinguished. When a light is extinguished its state is toggled from on to off or off to on, however, toggling a lights state also toggles the adjacent neighbouring lights states.

Aims of the project

The aim of the project was to create a fully working mobile phone game that can be run from any series 40 Nokia phone. The .jar size of the game needed to be less than 96kb using less than 250kb of memory during run-time. Lights Out is 31kb and uses a maximum of 72kb run-time (including all options).

About the game

Highscore system, 10 puzzling levels, sound, vibrate and backlight options. Can be used on any series 40 Nokia phone with screen size of 240 x 248 pixels.
